Dharamshalas, budget hotels and guesthouses — all the accommodation options near the temple.
Khatu village, where the famous Shyam Ji temple is located, is a small but well-equipped pilgrimage town in Sikar district, Rajasthan. While many devotees make a day trip from Jaipur (~80 km away), those planning an early morning darshan or attending the Phalgun Mela benefit greatly from staying overnight. Here is a practical overview of your accommodation options.
Dharamshalas are the most popular accommodation choice for pilgrims. They offer clean, simple rooms at very affordable rates, typically ranging from ₹100–₹500 per night depending on the facility and season. Several dharamshalas are located within walking distance of the temple:
Khatu village has a growing number of budget hotels and guesthouses catering to pilgrims who want attached bathrooms and slightly more comfort. Rates on regular days range from ₹500–₹1,500 per night. Rooms typically include a bed, fan, and basic amenities. Air-conditioned rooms are available at the higher end of this range. Most hotels are located on or near the main road leading to the temple.
Some guesthouses offer simple vegetarian meals — dal, sabzi and roti — either included or at a nominal additional cost. This is a convenient option for those arriving early and leaving late.
Ringas Junction town, the nearest railway station to Khatu Shyam Ji, offers a wider range of hotels including some with air-conditioning and room service. Staying in Ringas and commuting to the temple (about 30–40 minutes by taxi) is a practical option when accommodation in Khatu village is fully booked during peak season. Read our Ringas railway station guide for more information about the town.
During the Phalgun Mela (typically February–March), every room within a 20 km radius of the temple is either fully booked or priced at a premium. If you are attending the mela and wish to stay overnight:
For most first-time visitors, a day trip from Jaipur is entirely feasible. Leave Jaipur by 5:00–5:30 AM, reach the temple for morning aarti, complete darshan, explore the temple town, have lunch and return to Jaipur by afternoon. The round trip by car takes under 4 hours of driving total. See the Jaipur to Khatu Shyam route guide for full day-trip planning details.
Khatu is a small, peaceful town centred around its temple. The main street leading to the temple is lined with flower stalls, sweet shops, prasad vendors and small eateries serving simple vegetarian food. The atmosphere is calm on regular days and deeply festive during special occasions. Mobile internet connectivity is functional but can be slow — plan your navigation and downloads before you arrive.
Whether you stay the night or visit for a few hours, Khatu Shyam Ji has a way of staying with you long after you leave. Jai Shree Shyam.
